The proof is in the pudding
Through life, people will talk about their experiences and often we what we hear but never experience it firsthand for ourselves. In John chapter 4 Jesus meets a woman from Samaria. After their meeting, she went back into town and told her fellow Samaritans about her conversation with Jesus.
John 4:39-42 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
39 Many Samaritans from that city believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I have ever done.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them; and he stayed there two days. 41 And many more believed because of his word. 42 They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the Savior of the world.”
Someone can tell you the pudding is good, and you may agree but do you really know it is good if you have not tasted it for yourself. The people of Samaria believed Jesus was the Savior of the world because of what the woman said. But because of their firsthand experience, they now know that Jesus is truly the Savior of the world.
Listen to what is preached about Jesus and what is in the bible but take that extra step and get firsthand knowledge. Read the bible, pray and meditate and you will get that firsthand knowledge.
